Oláh Krisztián Trio (Hungary)
Krisztián Oláh is a pianist and composer studying at the Bartók Béla Music High school in Miskolc, Hungary. From the age of 12 he has been interested in 20th century classical music and free improvisation. Having been inspired by his father, Kálmán Oláh – a famous Hungarian jazz pianist and composer – he became more and more involved in jazz. In 2011 he won the award for free improvisation at the Creative Art talent contest founded by György Vukán. In 2012 he was qualified for the EUTropia Project run by the Roots & Routes international talent scout program performing at the Sziget Festival.
The Oláh Krisztián Trio was formed in 2011 and since then has been a regular guest of many Hungarian jazz clubs. They also qualified for the semi-final of the Bucharest International Jazz Competition. The group’s repertoire consist of own compositions, jazz standards, modern bebop tunes and even reinterpretations of classical pieces.
